More information

Union Made: Art from the University of Sydney Union features major artworks from the largest collection amassed by an Australian student union, now held by Chau Chak Wing Museum.

Since the first acquisition in 1913, the collection has been displayed on the walls of the USU buildings, Holme, Manning and Wentworth, recognising how art can shape student thinking and enrich the student experience.

Anthia Balis works as an Assistant Curator at Verge Gallery. In this role, she assists with managing the USU Art Collection and curating on-campus student exhibitions. Anthia was involved in curating and co-writing audio descriptions for ‘Union Made,’ alongside accessibility consultant Sarah Empey. Anthia studied Art History and Visual Arts at the University of Sydney.

Julian Woods worked as one of the Union’s Art Collection Officers from 2013 – 2014 and co-curated two exhibitions at Verge Gallery with the USU collection. He studied Art History and History at the University of Sydney and now works at the Chau Chak Wing Museum as the Public Engagement Coordinator.
