Kerameikos: ceramics artists in conversation

Floor talks with the artists of 'Kerameikos'
Thursday 29 February: Join us for a series of floor talks between the artists of 'Kerameikos' as they begin their intensive study of the museum’s historic collection

In August, the Chau Chak Wing Museum will launch a new exhibition, Kerameikos, featuring new works from leading Australian ceramics artist.

Each artist has been invited to explore the museum’s historic and diverse collections with a week-long intensive lab working alongside the museums curatorial team. Their resulting new commissioned works will offer a new way of seeing some of Australia's oldest collections, challenge perceived historical narratives and push the boundaries of ceramic practice today.

This conversation will introduce each of the artists, their current ceramic practice and the importance of history and artefacts in their work.

Kerameikos artists:

  • Idil Abdullahi
  • Glenn Barkley
  • Kirsten Coelho
  • Janet Fieldhouse
  • Juz Kitson
  • Monica Rani Rudhar
  • Vipoo Srivilasa

Hosted by 'Kerameikos' curator Candace Richards
