Scales and Plates: A tour for visitors who are blind or have low vision

A multi-sensory museum experience for visitors who are blind or have low vision, and their guests
Monday 2 September: A tactile experience engaging with the museum’s natural history collection for visitors who are blind or have low vision.

For the University of Sydney's Disability Inclusion Week, join us for a special event at the Chau Chak Wing Museum as we unlock the natural world around us by using tactile models.

The program will include an audio description tour of the exhibition Natural Selections and a range of tactile tables that will enable visitors who are blind or have low vision to experience the museum’s collection of natural history specimens. We invite participants to handle 3D models of collection items, including abalone, shells, sharks, turtles, and many more.

This program will be led by Dr Lisa Andrew, artist educator with decades of work in creating content for accessible experiences, and Associate Professor Dagmar Reinhardt, researcher and designer of 'Museum for Touch 'accessible toolkits.

This event is part of a suite of Disability Inclusion Week events between 2 – 6 September. Check out the Disability Inclusion Week website to see what else is on.
