School Holiday Workshop: Te raranga putiputi me nga pūrākau: The weaving of flowers and stories

A special workshop for families
Saturday 22 April, 1 – 3 pm: A special School holiday workshop focusing on traditional Māori weaving with harakeke (flax).

Join Brent and Delise Kerehona as they teach traditional Māori weaving techniques for you to create three different types of flowers from flax (Phormium tenax), while sharing stories with one another. While you are weaving join in the sharing of stories of family origins, memories from the past, stories from the present, and dreams for the future.

Weave these stories into your flowers, which will live forever.

No previous experience is necessary.

This workshop suitable for anyone from ages 6+, parental or carer supervision is required.

This workshop is also ideal for families who want to share quality time, create artworks, and memories, and ensure that important stories are not lost to time.
