Cooling interventions for Multiple Sclerosis Patients in the Heat


A post-graduate student (PhD or Masters) is sought to work on a project that will evaluate the mechanisms associated with heat-induced fatigue in MS patients, and subsequently develop effective and ecologically valid cooling interventions to maintain their functional capacity during work and everyday activities. The project will be conducted in association with researchers in United States and at Neuroscience Australia in Sydney. The candidate may also be given the opportunity to spend a semester at a leading collaborating laboratory in the United States during the course of their studies. The majority of their research will involve laboratory-based data collection using simulated thermal environments in the state-of-the-art climatic chamber situated at Cumberland campus.
