Clinical trial for sufferers of lower back pain

This study will provide information via text messages to support recovery from low back pain.

We are inviting people over 18 years of age who have a current episode of low back pain for less than 12 weeks to participate.

Participation will involve receiving text messages with information about low back pain and completing online questionnaires at the beginning of the study, as well as at 3, 6 and 12 months.

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • Are older than 18 years old
  • Currently have low back pain that has been present for less than 12 weeks
  • Have a low back pain episode that has been interfering at least moderately with usual daily activities
  • Are familiar with the use and have access to a mobile phone that can receive text messages
  • Are able to read and understand English language well
  • Are able to give informed consent without the help of others

You will not be eligible to participate if you:

  • Are pregnant
  • Have had any spinal surgery in the past 12 months
  • Have any health condition that prevents active participation in physical activity programs
