This scholarship is valued at $3,000 and will be paid as a one-off payment on confirmation of attending the LWOW Spring Program.

Who's eligible

You must:

  • be domestic and international student
  • be currently enrolled in a full-time or part-time Bachelor of Laws, Juris Doctor, Master of Administrative Law and Policy, Master of Business Law, Master of Criminology (Coursework), Master of Environmental Law, Master of Health Law, Master of International Law, Master of Labour Law and Relations, Master of Laws (Coursework), or Master of Taxation within the University of Sydney Law School
  • be willing to attend the LawWithoutWalls (LWOW) Sprint program.

Background

a. The Sydney Law School is offering a travelling scholarship known as the Charles Herbert Currey Memorial Scholarship for LawWithoutWalls (LWOW) Sprint Program to assist Bachelor of Laws, Juris Doctor, Master of Administrative Law and Policy, Master of Business Law, Master of Criminology (Coursework), Master of Environmental Law, Master of Health Law, Master of International Law, Master of Labour Law and Relations, Master of Laws (Coursework), or Master of Taxation students to attend the annual LWOW Sprint Program.

b. Established in 1973 by a bequest of $50,000 from Mrs Linda Currey of Strathfield, N.S. W., to establish a travelling scholarship or scholarships in the Faculties of Arts and Law in memory of her husband, Charles Herbert Currey, MA LLD.
 

 

1. Background
a. The Sydney Law School is offering a travelling scholarship known as the Charles Herbert Currey Memorial Scholarship for LawWithoutWalls (LWOW) Sprint Program to assist Bachelor of Laws, Juris Doctor, Master of Administrative Law and Policy, Master of Business Law, Master of Criminology (Coursework), Master of Environmental Law, Master of Health Law, Master of International Law, Master of Labour Law and Relations, Master of Laws (Coursework), or Master of Taxation students to attend the annual LWOW Sprint Program.

b. Established in 1973 by a bequest of $50,000 from Mrs Linda Currey of Strathfield, N.S. W., to establish a travelling scholarship or scholarships in the Faculties of Arts and Law in memory of her husband, Charles Herbert Currey, MA LLD.

2. Eligibility

a. Applicants must be currently enrolled in a full-time or part-time Bachelor of Laws, Juris Doctor, Master of Administrative Law and Policy, Master of Business Law, Master of Criminology (Coursework), Master of Environmental Law, Master of Health Law, Master of International Law, Master of Labour Law and Relations, Master of Laws (Coursework), or Master of Taxation within the University of Sydney Law School.
b. Applicants must be willing to attend the LawWithoutWalls (LWOW) Sprint program.

3. Selection Criteria
a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:
I. academic merit, and
II. and an expression of interest submitted as audio-video response, limited to two minutes,
III. outlining why they should be selected to attend the LWOW Sprint program, and

b. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for interview by the Deputy Dean of the Sydney Law School, or their nominated delegate and two are selected for nomination to LWOW.

c. The Scholarship will be awarded on the nomination of a selection committee consisting of the Deputy Dean of the Sydney Law School, or their nominated delegate.

4. Value
a. The Scholarship is valued up to $3,000.

b. The Scholarship value will be paid as a one-off payment on confirmation of attending the LWOW Sprint Program.
c. Deferral or suspension of the Scholarship is not permitted.

d. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

e. No other amount is payable.

5. Ongoing eligibility
a. None Apply
6. Termination
a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,
II. withdraws from the LawWithoutWalls Sprint Program or fails to meet any necessary requirements of the Program
III. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,
IV. if the student ceases to meet the eligibility requirements specified for this Scholarship, or
V. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.

b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.
c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
