  • be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree (including combined degrees) within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney
  • be on track to complete your final year of studies at the end of 2025
  • demonstrate a passion for renewable energy
  • agree to undertake a six-week placement* with Ark Energy Operations in 2025.

*Placement dates are mutually agreed by Ark Energy Operations and the successful applicant.

This Scholarship was established to offer financial support and a six-week placement with Ark Energy Operations to an undergraduate student in the Faculty of Engineering who has a passion for renewable energy.

This Scholarship has been funded by Ark Energy Operations Pty Ltd in memory of Félix Laubi.

1. Background

a. This Scholarship was established to offer financial support and a six-week placement with Ark Energy Operations to an undergraduate student in the Faculty of Engineering who has a passion for renewable energy.

b. This Scholarship has been funded by Ark Energy Operations Pty Ltd in memory of Félix Laubi.

2. Eligibility

a. Applicants must be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident.

b. Applicants must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree (including combined degrees) within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney.

c. Applicants must be on track to complete their final year of studies at the end of 2025.

d. Applicants must demonstrate a passion for renewable energy.

e. Applicants must agree to undertake a six-week placement with Ark Energy Operations in 2025. Placement dates are mutually agreed by Ark Energy Operations and the successful applicant.

3. Selection Criteria

a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

I. academic merit, based on the latest WAM,
II. a personal statement which demonstrates their passion for renewable energy, and
III. an interview.

b. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, or their nominated delegates.

4. Value

a. The Scholarship is valued at $10,000 per annum and is tenable for 1 year.

b. The Scholarship annual value will be paid in two equal instalments. The first instalment will be paid after the census date of Semester 1. The second instalment will be paid after the completion of the placement and the census date of Semester 2.

c. Deferral and/or suspension of the Scholarship is not permitted.

d. The Scholarship is not transferable to another University school, faculty or university.

e. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

f. No other amount is payable.

5. Ongoing Eligibility

a. To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must enrol and continue to be enrolled full-time in a degree within the Faculty of Engineering.

b. Recipients must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester.

c. Recipients undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship are required to have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment.

d. Recipients must have undertaken or already agreed on the date for the six-week placement with Ark Energy Operations.

6. Termination

a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,
II. commences part-time study,
III. does not agree or complete the six-week placement with Ark Energy Operations,
IV. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance, or
V. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application.

b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.

c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.

7. Other Requirements

a. By accepting this scholarship, the successful recipient agrees to undertake a six-week placement with Ark Energy Operations in 2025. Placement dates are to be mutually agreed by Ark Energy Operations and the recipient, with assistance in setting up from the Faculty of Engineering Scholarships department at engineering.scholarships@sydney.edu.au.

b. The Placement does not create an employment relationship between the recipient and Ark Energy Operations, nor does it create any future employment relationship.
