Note: The approved exchange program must not be in your home country.
a. This Scholarship was established in 2014 to assist students enrolled in the Bachelor of International and Global Studies who are proceeding to participate in the University of Sydney Exchange Program. It has been updated to also include the Bachelor of Advanced Studies (International and Global Studies).
a. Applicants must be enrolled at the University of Sydney in the Bachelor of Advanced Studies (International and Global Studies) or the Bachelor of International and Global Studies in the year in which they undertake the overseas study.
b. Applicants must be:
I. Selected by the University of Sydney for a student exchange of one or two semesters duration at any of the partner institutions available through the University of Sydney Exchange program, which may be credited to the Bachelor of Advanced Studies (International and Global Studies) or the Bachelor of International and Global Studies,
II. Approved by the Director of the Bachelor of Advanced Studies (International and Global Studies) or the Bachelor of International and Global Studies and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for study of one or two semesters duration at an overseas tertiary institution, which may be credited to the Bachelor of Advanced Studies (International and Global Studies) or the Bachelor of International and Global Studies, or
III. Approved by the Director of the Bachelor of Advanced Studies (International and Global Studies) or the Bachelor of International and Global Studies and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences for study in an alternative academic program to be credited to the Bachelor of Advanced Studies (International and Global Studies) or the Bachelor of International and Global Studies.
c. The approved exchange program for international applicants must not be in their home country.
d. Applicants in receipt of other funding support for their approved exchange program may still be eligible for this scholarship depending on conditions, purpose and value of the other funding.
a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit in the units of study for:
I. Bachelor of Advanced Studies (International and Global Studies):
i. INGS1003 – International and Global Studies, and
ii. INGS1004 – The Making of Global Order, or
II. Bachelor of International and Global Studies:
i. INGS1001 – Power and Money in Global Society, and
ii. INGS1002 – Global Culture and Society.
b. The Scholarship will be awarded by on the nomination of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences or their nominated delegate(s).
a. The Scholarship is valued at $4,000 and is tenable for six months only.
b. The Scholarship value will be paid as a one off payment.
c. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted without the prior permission of Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and it is not transferable to another University school, faculty or university.
d. The Scholarship is subject to the availability of funds.
e. No other amount is payable.
a. To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must be enrolled full-time.
b. Recipients must meet the conditions of their degree program and exchange arrangements
during the tenure of the scholarship.
c. Recipients undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship are required to
have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR).
6. Termination
a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,
II. does not go on the approved Exchange Program or approved study at an overseas
tertiary institution,
III. commences part-time study without prior approval,
IV. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,
V. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not
limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship
application,
VI. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave, or
VII. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.
b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated.
c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or withdraws from the relevant
course, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the
Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
