  • be selected by the University for an exchange of one or two semesters at any of the partner institutions available through the University of Sydney Exchange program

Background

This scholarship was established to assist students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Advanced Studies (International and Global Studies) degree who are proceeding to participate in the University of Sydney Exchange Program.

1. Background

a. This Scholarship was established to assist students enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Advanced Studies (International and Global Studies) degree who are proceeding to participate in the University of Sydney Exchange Program.

2. Eligibility

a. Applicants must be enrolled at the University of Sydney in the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Advanced Studies (International and Global Studies) degree. 

b. Applicants must be selected by the University of Sydney for an exchange of one or two semesters at any of the partner institutions available through the University of Sydney Exchange program, which may be credited to the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Advanced Studies (International and Global Studies) degree.

b. The approved exchange program for international applicants must not be in their home country.

c. Applicants in receipt of other funding support for their approved exchange program may still be eligible for this scholarship depending on conditions, purpose and value of the other funding.

3. Selection Criteria

a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit in the following units of study:

i. INGS1003 – International and Global Studies, and
ii. INGS1004 – The Making of Global Order, or
iii. INGS1001 – Power and Money in Global Society, and 
iv. INGS1002 – Global Culture and Society.

b. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences or their nominated delegate(s). 

4. Value

a. The Scholarship will be valued at $4,000. 

b. The Scholarship value will be paid as a one-off payment. 

c. Deferral and/or suspension of the Scholarship is not permitted without the prior permission of Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

d. The Scholarship cannot be transferred to another University school, faculty or university. 

e. The Scholarship is subject to the availability of funds. 

f. No other amount is payable.

5. Termination

a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,
II. does not go on the approved Exchange Program or approved study at the overseas tertiary institution, 
III. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,
IV. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application, or
V. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave.

b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error. 

c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
