Bruton Educational Trust Scholarship

An undergraduate scholarship

Established in 2006, this scholarship was generously donated by Bruton Holdings Pty Ltd. The Scholarship is to assist rural and regional students commencing studies at the University of Sydney.

Benefits and Duration

  • The Scholarship is valued at $10,000 p.a. and is tenable for the duration of the agreed undergraduate program (single or combined) for up to a maximum of 5 years full-time.
  • The Scholarship annual value will be paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester. 
  • The scholarship does not cover any postgraduate studies, such as a Master of Nursing or Doctor of Medicine, even if taken as part of a vertically integrated combined degree.

Eligibility Requirements

You must:

  • be commencing the first semester of your undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney.
  • be completing an undergraduate degree which is relevant to and will have the capacity to benefit the rural community of Australia.
  • be able to demonstrate financial disadvantage.
  • have completed your Higher School Certificate (HSC) at a high school in Australia located more than 100km from either The University of Sydney, or The Australian National University.
  • maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester to continue receipt of the Scholarship or achieve a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) if you are undertaking an exchange during the tenure of the Scholarship.

Selection Criteria

The Scholarship will be awarded:

  • based on academic merit.
  • by a Selection committee consisting of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education), or their nominated delegates.  

Scholarship Funding

This scholarship is donor-funded.

This scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.
