During my undergraduate years, I had the privilege of being part of the biomedical biophysics group, igniting my fascination with applying physics to biological systems. I've always been drawn to the healthcare setting, but didn't envision myself as a medical doctor.

Discovering the Master of Medical Physics program at the University of Sydney, renowned for its excellence in this specialised field, seemed like a perfect fit. I saw it as an opportunity to merge my interests and contribute meaningfully to medical technology and patient care.

How did you find out about the industry?

My introduction to the medical physics industry occurred during my third year of college, when we hosted a speaker from one of the largest hospitals in my city.

Their insights into the unique and vital role of medical physicists in patient care deeply fascinated me. It's remarkable how the world works – that same speaker later became my colleague.

Tell us about your role and what does it involve?

Currently, I serve as a Diagnostic Imaging Medical Physicist at both Chong Hua Hospital-Cebu and Chong Hua Hospital-Mandaue (Cancer Center).

My focus lies in ensuring the safe and effective utilisation of radiation in medical imaging, conducting quality control procedures across various imaging modalities and overseeing the commissioning of new imaging equipment.

Additionally, I share my expertise as an assistant professor at Cebu Doctor's University, College of Allied and Medical Sciences.
