The 23rd Biennial Computational Techniques and Applications Conference (CTAC2026) will be hosted and organised by the School of Mathematics, Faculty of Science, at the University of Sydney in partnership with ANZIAM, the Australian and New Zealand Industrial and Applied Mathematics Division of the Australian Mathematical Society.

The meeting will provide an interactive forum for researchers interested in the development and use of computational methods applied to engineering, scientific and other problems. The CTAC meetings have been taking place in Australia biennially since 1981, the most recent ones being held in 2024 at Monash University and in 2022 at QUT. They have been a major regular event in the community of computational mathematics in Australia.

Visa Requirements

All participants are responsible for ensuring they obtain the correct visa prior to travel. Most participants should be able to apply for a visitor visa (such as eVisitor) but please confirm the appropriate visa for your circumstances using the Australian Government Visa Finder

Visa processing times vary. Participants are strongly advised to apply as early as possible, and ideally no later than 2–3 months prior to travel.
Please note, a formal invitation letter is not required for these visas. Your registration confirmation and tax invoice are typically sufficient documentation.
Conference organisers are unable to provide any further immigration advice.

Welcome to Sydney.  The conference will be held at the University of Sydney campus. If you are arriving from interstate or overseas, here is some information reaching to/from Sydney airport. You can find your way to the conference using the campus map.

You can find out more about accommodation and restaurants in the area from the following links: restaurants on campusaccommodation (we recommend you book directly with the hotel), and  how to get to the University campus.

Every room is equipped with a desktop computer and a projector. If you want to use your own laptop, please check connection in advance and bring any required connectors/adaptors to your talk, if necessary, as we cannot supply them.
