Sustainability has partnered with the Careers Centre to host a free business clothes event for all current students. Held on 3 September in McLaurin Hall, the event invites students to wear lightly worn business clothes kindly donated by staff, alumni, and the community for their graduate interview. Registration is essential and will be open in late August via the Careers Centre.
Want to learn about sustainability auditing and earn a digital credential for your efforts? In September, we will be looking for student volunteers to be trained in sustainability auditing in the morning and to audit Green Impact teams' toolkits in the afternoon. Held on Thursday, 10 September and approved by the International Society of Sustainability Professionals, it’s a great way to add to your resume while also contributing to a culture of sustainability at USYD. There are many sustainability focused student societies to get involved with! If membership isn’t right for you now, make sure you keep an eye out for events and meetings hosted by these groups throughout the year.
A joint partnership between the USU and SRC hosts a FoodHub pantry on level 3 of the Wentworth Building (G01). The FoodHub provides free food and other essential items to University of Sydney students who are struggling with finances or food insecurity. It’s open Monday to Friday, 11 am - 2 pm, to all current students.
Sustainability and food insecurity are deeply interconnected, as creating resilient and sustainable food systems is essential to ensuring equitable access to nutritious food for all while protecting the environment. Got a sustainable idea for campus? Apply to the Student Life General Grants stream, and you could be supported and awarded up to $2,500 to bring your idea to life! Sustainable grants awarded in the past have included: a sustainable careers fair, a mend it workshop, balcony gardening workshops, research on attitudes towards sustainability and native bee habitats.
