Employability and careers

Why our graduates are ranked Australia's most employable*
No matter what you study, you’ll have opportunities and support to undertake internships and work placements with industry-leaders, to ensure you graduate ready for work.

We're Australia's leading university for graduate employability, ranked first in Australia for the past five years. In 2020, we also moved up one place to rank fourth in the world in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2020

This ranking is based on:

  • employer reputation
  • alumni outcomes
  • partnerships with employers per faculty
  • employer/student connections
  • the graduate employment rate.

Our rankings reflect our dedication to preparing students to enter the workforce. While each degree is designed to develop your graduate skills, we also have a number of programs to give you real world experience while you study.

We are committed to ensuring that every University of Sydney student has the opportunity to take on real-world industry, community, research and entrepreneurship projects as part of their degrees.

Student entrepreneurship

The INCUBATE hub at the Darlington/Camperdown campus.

We cultivate leaders and innovators. Our accelerator programs like Sydney Genesis and INCUBATE support and encourage student entrepreneurs at different stages of the start-up process.

We also have facilities like ThinkSpace that enable students to create interesting things using new technologies.

"Interning at Amnesty was hands-on. My main task was to design a workshop to educate big businesses on the new Modern Slavery Act" – Pola Cohen, History major

We work with over 45 leading organisations to create real world projects and internships as part of your course.

In an industry project, you'll collaborate with students from other study areas and business leaders to deliver real solutions to real problems.
