The recently launched Student Co-curricular Grants Funding Program provides funding and support to create innovative new projects that are run for students, by students.

Podcast: Culture and Connection

Can Western Science and Indigenous Science coexist? How do cultures perceive and affect mental ill health? Students of USYD

We’re all familiar with Humans of New York, but did you know we have our very own version of that account here at the University?
 
The Students of USYD project celebrates the richness and depth that diversity brings to our campuses. All University students and staff are invited to submit a story about their experiences of being or engaging with students at the University, which will then also be published in a magazine. Browse the website, and consider submitting your story – each student submission will go into a draw to win 1 of 6 x $50 gift vouchers.

Auslan Classes

The Sign Language Society (SignSoc) is offering beginners Auslan classes for students and staff at the University this semester, with in person and online options. Classes will run from 5 to 7pm over 7 weeks and be taught by a Deaf Trainer.

Enrolment in the course gives you access to the Auslan Conversation group that meets weekly and is a great place to meet others from across the University and practice your signing. Join a class and get signing.

Graphic Novel Awayday

Are you interested in webtoons or comics?

The University’s online comics/webtoon seminar, Graphic Novel Awayday, will be held on 18 March with a professional artist from Korea. You will also have a chance to ask questions, submit artwork, and receive expert feedback!

Beta Alpha Psi – Diverse & Inclusive Business Leaders of the Future

Beta Alpha Psi University of Sydney will be running a 2 day Diversity and Inclusivity Competition on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 March, specifically around Business Leadership in the COVID era. This will be a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and improve your presentation skills.

The Amazing Race – Welcome to USyd Edition

As part of the Welcome Week festivities, all students are invited to take part in University of Sydney’s very own Amazing Race on Friday 18 February. All challenges are located on campus, and there are great prizes for the top three teams. Join the race – ready, set, go!

GrannyTell Art competition

Project Lead for this group, Joshua Wan, was recently awarded the NSW International Student of the Year. He and his team’s project, GrannyTell connects young and old generations through sharing stories. GrannyTell wants to capture the unique experiences that go unnoticed and unappreciated.

This competition will help us hear about all the diverse experiences, lessons and memories involving the elderly in our community, and will contribute to a shared piece of work featuring your artwork. As a commemoration of the stories shared, each participant will receive a copy of the book. Find out how to take part.
