Biblical and post-biblical Hebrew texts are read in their original language. Students will increase their language abilities and knowledge of the Bible and its world by reading advanced Classical and Post-Classical Hebrew texts. These include Biblical compositions such as complex prophetic texts (e.g., selections from the prose and poetic prophetic material in the Book of Jeremiah). Students also increase their knowledge of the language, world and impact of the Bible by studying evidence of ancient Hebrew from the Second Temple and post-Biblical periods (e.g., the Dead Sea Scrolls, or the Mishnah).
