Students develop early skills in professional practice through lectures, tutorials, and mentorship by a Year 4 student who will guide in providing assessment and intervetion in the on campus clinic. Students will build on observation and reflective skills, and the abilty to seek and use evidence to faciliate thier learning and that of the child and family they are working with. They will develop early report writing, and case presentation skills, and gain an understanding of government legislation and compliance to policies and procedures of the on-campus clinic. Providing culturally safe and responsive practice with First Nations and diverse populations is discussed. The importance of professional relationships, problem-solving strategies, and ethical practice working with children and their families will be highlighted as students transfer knowledge and theory into practice.
