This unit provides further experience in diagnosis, treatment planning; prognosis and in non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapy. Students undertake clinical care of patients at Sydney Dental Hospital and the Westmead Centre for Oral Health, Westmead under supervision. Regular case presentations are utilized for students to present cases for discussion. The focus of the 2nd year is on non-surgical treatment of more advanced and complex (Stage 3/4 ; Grade B/C) forms of periodontitis as well as on gaining experience in periodontal, implant and peri-implantitis surgery. Students may be required to attend classes at multiple locations.
