This unit examines the changing character and organisation of work. You will explore how the global economic dynamics of production, trade, and finance, the regulation of migration, automation and robotics, and evolving digital platforms of work and its organisation, shape the everyday experience of work and everyone's wellbeing. You will investigate the relationships between the formal and informal sectors of contemporary capitalist economies, and waged and non-waged labour, as well as the ways in which key institutions - including the state, capital, unions, and households - shape patterns of work and capital accumulation.
