This unit, in conjunction with ECOP6121, enables you to write a 12,000 word dissertation, under supervision, within a nominated topic area. The nominated topic areas are: the global climate crisis; the evolving role/influence of financial markets; inequality under globalisation; the practice of wage theft; the Chinese economy’s growth trajectory; the intersecting crises of economy, health, care, gender, race and climate; and new forms of repression. In discussion with your supervisor, you will determine a research question to be answered. For example: what is Australia’s role in, or response to, the global climate crisis? Is energy impoverishment a new form of globalised inequality?
