This unit of study consolidates a deep understanding of the work of teachers and teaching. The unit continues to establish a community of praxis by furthering students’ understanding of critical reflection and practices that are essential to developing leadership for learning. The unit applies the practice of Indigenous perspectives embedded and articulated in the degree. It addresses challenges faced by newly qualified teachers, their role as ‘public’ figures by critically engaging with educational theory, research and mandated professional standards. Understandings of pedagogy and professional practice are also developed as students undertake a third Professional Experience component.
