This unit gives students the opportunity to build on the foundations of earlier study of Ancient Greek and develop their skills in reading and analysing Ancient Greek texts. It involves both formal language work, including practice in unseen translation, and the close reading and analysis of Ancient Greek verse and/or prose texts. Increasing attention will be paid to the literary qualities, style, generic and socio-historical background of the texts, as well as to their grammar and syntax. Authors and texts will vary from year to year.
