Students in LAWS3900 research and write a 12,000 word thesis on a topic of their choosing, under supervision. The thesis is a scholarly paper, of the kind that would be published in a peer reviewed law journal. LAWS3900 is wholly assessed by the thesis, but students must also: (1) attend two 2 hour workshops and individual supervision meetings throughout the semester as agreed with their supervisor; and (2) pass an oral exam in the formal exam period, which will be a 10 minute, zero-weighted hurdle task focusing on the student's academic process for production of the thesis.
