This unit of study explores Interprofessional collaboration and the ethical and legal requirements of medical radiation practice in Australia. Students participate in a university-wide activity designed to provide health professional students with the opportunity to develop collaboration in interprofessional teams. The unit of study develops students as health professionals by examining Australian Health Care System and ethical scenarios especially patients’ rights in a case-based approach to ethical, reflective and collaborative practice using key legislation as a framework for decision making and discussion. Students will learn of the integration between legal requirements, mandatory notifications and the code of conduct as required by Federal regulations and state legal requirements related to health professionals. The notions of leadership, culturally safe practice and patient advocacy will be explored.
