Due to the complexity and ever-changing nature of our healthcare systems, errors can and do occur. As such, nursing is a highly regulated profession that is bound by laws, codes, rules, policies, guidelines and standards. This unit of study is designed to facilitate a comprehensive understanding of how nursing practice is regulated through clinical governance and quality and safety frameworks, to deliver safe, high quality care to people. The important role of leadership in nursing practice for delivering safe, high quality health care is examined.
