This unit immerses students in Spanish and Latin American history, society, politics, economics, and culture through a multi-disciplinary and multi-national approach. It provides insight into the processes that generate sociocultural similarity and difference across geographical boundaries. A cultural studies approach will integrate such diverse perspectives to examine salient themes, such as class, race, gender, colonialism, dependency and intervention, arts, music, film and literature.
