BSc BVMS (Hons) PhD, Dip ACVIM

Associate Professor John House graduated from Murdoch University, Western Australia, completed specialty training in large animal medicine and has a pHD at University of California, Davis.

Research efforts have focused on disease control and enhancing farm productivity through the conduct of epidemiological studies and the development of diagnostic tests and vaccines. Much of this work has been directed at prevention of salmonellosis in intensive ruminant production systems. Current projects include the evaluation of DNA adenine methylase attenuated salmonella vaccines in cattle and sheep, a national survey of bovine pink eye in Australia looking at the prevalence of serotypes, epidemiological studies of environmental mastitis pathogens on NSW dairy farms, epidemiological studies of mycoplasma in dairy cattle and projects evaluating different approaches to assisted reproduction in dairy cattle.

Richa Kamrah holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Applications and postgraduate qualifications in Computing and Business Analytics. With a strong foundation in technology and business, and extensive experience in the tertiary education sector, she brings a strategic lens to education, policy, marketing communications, and people leadership.

She began her career in teaching before progressing into senior management roles across various higher education institutions. Richa has led academic and professional support services, managed program delivery across multiple campuses, and contributed to the development and implementation of key initiatives in education and student support. Her expertise spans infrastructure and facilities management, student and academic services, external engagement, outreach and partner collaboration. She has successfully led diverse teams of professional staff and overseen the delivery of complex accredited programs. 

As the Director of Veterinary Operations, Richa provides strategic and operational leadership, playing a key role in advancing world-class veterinary education and research through the provision of high-quality clinical services to the community.

For the past 8 years, Keith has been the Commercial and Clinical Services Director at the University of Sydney Veterinary Teaching Hospital Camden.  He is responsible for finding the right level of resources to support the clinic and makes sure that the business processes work efficiently for both clients and staff.  Keith comes from a background of running human hospitals, which gives him excellent insight into client services and clinical care environments.

When Keith has spare time, he enjoys relaxing with friends and family.

Dr MJ Keow graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 2010. Her career began as a general practitioner in Singapore and Sydney, and she also engaged in locum work across Australia.

Her professional journey includes roles such as an orthopaedic support specialist for a human medical device company, a lead veterinarian at a small animal practice, and an operations manager at a specialty veterinary hospital.

Beyond her professional endeavours, MJ finds joy in spending time with her husband and their delightful menagerie of six pets: two dogs, three cats, and a mischievous Indian Ringneck named Chicken.

Paris qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2013 starting her career in a busy general practice hospital on the central coast NSW before making the move to the University of Queensland to rotate through the Small Animal & Equine Specialist departments within the hospitals.

During her time in Queensland Paris began to foster a passion for Internal Medicine which led her to move back to NSW and purse an Internal Medicine nursing position in a busy Specialist Referral Hospital in Sydney where she progressed into a Team Leader & Coordinator role within the Internal Medicine Department.

Paris joined UVTHS in 2022 as the Referral Medicine Nurse Unit Coordinator where she works closely with the Specialist and nursing team to provide gold standards of care to our Medicine & Oncology patients.

Paris has a passion for the pathophysiology of all small animal complex, acute and chronic disease states and the procedures utilised to diagnose and treat disease processes, she also has a keen interest in positively contributing to the teaching of our DVM students.

RVN, BSci (Hons) Zoology

Having previously completed a Zoology degree at the University of Glasgow, in 2019 Chris qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in the UK.

He soon packed his bags and headed to Australia where he worked as a locum in the Eastern suburbs for a short period, before joining UVTHS in the ECC and then the Referral Medicine nursing team in February 2020.

He then moved to Queensland for a year. He worked as an Internal Medicine nurse at a busy specialist hospital in Brisbane before returning to Sydney and rejoining the UVTHS team as a Referral Medicine nurse at the end of 2021.

Holly completed a Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience (Hons) and developed a strong interest in science communications and public relations. After completing an internship in scientific communications in Illinois, USA, she returned to Australia to pursue a Master of Arts in Communication Management.

During and following her Masters degree, she worked at a large Australian agricultural company, and then worked across horticultural and agricultural, premium food and alcohol, and lifestyle brands both domestically and internationally.

Returning to her first passion for veterinary and animal science, Holly joined UVTHS in the role of External Relations Manager in 2023. She enjoys connecting with the hospital's referral veterinary clinic network and enhancing the experience of our clients and patients.

Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing

Anja spent the first 10 years of her nursing career in a General Practice in Sydney’s East enjoying the varied roles of general practice, including running puppy preschool, grooming and all areas of nursing.

Then moving on to the exciting position of referral surgical nurse at a Specialist Referral Hospital in Sydney’s North loving the challenge of the fast-paced emergency and surgical nursing duties.

Anja joined the UVTHS reception team in May 2011 and thoroughly enjoys the move to the more client-facing role whilst still finding the fast pace of the referral and emergency service a welcome challenge.

Outside of work Anja enjoys time away camping and being a foster mum to kittens and dogs in need.

Rhiannon graduated from the University of South Wales (formerly University of Glamorgan) with a BA Hons in Drama, Theatre & Media. She moved to Australia from Wales in 2015, leaving her job as a "rookie" police officer, having previously worked as an emergency dispatch officer for three years.

A fluent Welsh speaker, Rhiannon began her Australian career with the PSA/CPSU, where she spent seven years gaining valuable experience in IT/systems support and industrial relations.

She currently resides in Sydney with her husband and their dog, Peanut.

Colleen originally joined the hospital in 1989, during which time she has worked with some amazing vets and support staff. Colleen has also spent some time managing private veterinary practices and owns a building business with her husband.

Colleen is responsible for the day-to-day running of the hospitals, from staffing to facilities – and everything in between! She loves to spend her spare time with her family, riding her horses, and spoiling her whippets!

Fran joined the University of Sydney, Camden in April 2016.  She is responsible for finance and practice management systems within the clinic.  She has always worked in finance since she was 18 years old and is a real numbers girl through and through!

At the weekend, Fran likes to spend her time riding and hiking.

Amy joined the Sydney School of Veterinary Science in January 2025, where she supports marketing initiatives across our veterinary hospitals in Sydney and Camden.

Prior to this, Amy worked with a human health technology startup, where she developed strong expertise in healthcare communications, building on a diverse background in visual and marketing communications. 

Amy holds a Bachelor (Honours) in Design, a Diploma in Sustainability, and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. 

A creative at heart, she enjoys arts and crafts and theatre, and prioritises wellness and self‑development through nature, yoga, meditation, journalling, and reflective practice.

Cert IV Veterinary Nursing

Victoria is an experienced veterinary nurse with eight years in small animal general practice and emergency and critical care. She completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2018 and has also previously worked in veterinary recruitment. Since February 2026, Victoria has been working at the University of Sydney, where she enjoys teaching and mentoring, particularly supporting students. Outside of work, she is a proud pet mum to four cats and a horse, and has competed in dressage.

Cert IV Veterinary Nursing, Diploma of Leadership and Management, Cert III Zookeeping

Liz Arthur is an experienced zoo and wildlife veterinary nurse with over 35 years dedicated to the care and conservation of native species, with a particular focus on koalas.

She spent many years with the Taronga Conservation Society Australia, where she developed strong expertise in wildlife clinical care, husbandry, and rehabilitation, shaping her practical and conservation-focused approach to animal welfare.

Liz is currently the Koala and Wildlife Carer Coordinator at the Wildlife Health and Conservation Hospital. In this role, she coordinates koala care and rehabilitation pathways across south-west Sydney, working closely with veterinarians, wildlife carers, researchers, and students to support high standards of clinical care and effective collaboration.
