Teaching hospital

Providing quality care to you and your pets
A purpose built veterinary hospital located in the heart of Sydney.

The Hospital has separate canine and feline hospital wings. Both our canine & feline waiting rooms are stocked with a range of nutritional diets to help keep your pet healthy through all stages of life.

Our reception staff are trained in pet nutrition and can advise what diet is best for your pet. We also stock a range of flea & tick prevention, joint supplements, toys and of course treats for your furry friend.

We have 5 dedicated canine consultation rooms.

Surgery

Our brand new surgical suites opened in July 2017.  The clinic has three operating theatres where procedures ranging from desexing to heart surgery are performed as well as areas where less invasive procedures such as the removal of small lumps and endoscopy can be undertaken. Our facilities are of the same high standard you would expect in a ‘human’ hospital & anaesthesia also have their own purpose built prep areas.

Diagnostic imaging

University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney (UVTHS) is a fully digital Radiology Department comprising of the following services:

  • Picture Archive and Communications System (PACS);
  • General and Computed Radiography (CR);
  • Ultrasound (US);
  • Computed Tomography (CT);
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems.

Dispensary

We have a fully equipped dispensary which is run by a qualified Veterinary Nurse. Our dispensary is the central location for all of our medication, it is also where medication is dispensed for both in & out patients.

Chemotherapy

The clinic is also equipped with chemotherapy units for both dogs and cats where patients suffering from cancer can be treated.

Canine treatment room and ICU

Our canine treatment room is where we examine dogs and perform dental procedures. This is often one of the busiest areas of the hospital.

We have a dedicated canine ICU where all of our critically ill patients are housed & monitored by our highly trained staff.

Clinic staff and student interns

In addition to our impressive facilities, our greatest asset is our dedicated and highly trained staff are committed to providing the best possible care for our patients, your pets.

Bright and enthusiastic student interns are an integral part of our team – they are the veterinarians of the future. Our students are studying to be vets because they love animals and this is their chance to move beyond the lecture room and the theory and see what practice is all about.

Under the supervision of our qualified clinicians, they learn how to care compassionately for animals and they will make friends with your pet, attend to its individual dietary and exercise requirements and provide you with regular updates on its progress.
