Each year, the School of Languages and Culture offer students from a range of backgrounds and disciplines the opportunity to pursue their research in languages through scholarship.

Whether you’re an undergraduate dipping your toes into the research world or postgraduate and ready to make your mark, there’s a scholarship in languages that might just steer you in the right direction.

Here, we’ve highlighted the top scholarships for wherever your language interests lie. Be quick as many applications close by the end of May 2022.


The Frederick Sefton Delmer Scholarship for Postgraduate Research Students in Germanic Studies

Study level: Postgraduate Research

Eligibility: Full-time in a master's by research or PhD within the Department of Germanic Studies, and hold an honours degree or a Master of Arts.

Value: $10,000

Emilie M Schweitzer Scholarship in French and Germanic Studies

Study level: Undergraduate Honours

Eligibility: Enrol in French and Francophone studies or Germanic studies at honours level, and have a minimum WAM of 70

Value: $8,000

The Sakuko Matsui Australia-Japan Friendship Scholarships

Study level: Undergraduate or postgraduate research

Eligibility: Domestic students studying Japanese studies or international students from Japan

Study level: Undergraduate coursework
