Our postgraduate programs in human resource management and industrial relations will give you a competitive edge and help you leverage a rewarding and successful career in people management. Find out why you should consider this program.
1. Prepare for the future of work
With transformations in new technology and political, economic and social change, the human resources and industrial relations industry has experienced significant growth over the past decade. That’s why we’ve revamped our Master of Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations.
Our future-focused program recognises the significant change in the composition of the workforce, covers the future of work and looks at how industrial relations experts need to respond to the evolving regulatory environment.
The impact of technology, big data and analytics on human resources and industrial relations is also a focus of the degree with the introduction of a new unit in human resources data insights. This unit recognises the way businesses now use data and how human resource professionals need the skills to interrogate it and use in a constructive way.
2. Take advantage of flexible pathway options
If you have a related bachelor’s degree and two or more years' relevant work experience, you can reduce the time needed to complete our master’s program through recognition of prior learning. This means you can graduate in just one year of full-time study.
We also offer flexible pathway options and recognition of prior learning in these postgraduate degrees:
- Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations, 0.5 year full time
- Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations, 1 year full time

4. Learn from high-calibre academics
The strength of our human resource management and industrial relations degree is due to the quality of our teaching staff.
From contributing to government advisory boards relating to parental leave, discrimination and gender equity in the workplace, to collaborating with business on issues around employee health and wellbeing at work, and projects exploring culturally diverse leader and the multicultural workforce landscape, you will learn from academics who are leading professionals.
5. Subsidise your study with a Commonwealth Supported Place
Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) are offered for our postgraduate programs. A CSP means that the Australian Government subsidises your course fees and you pay the remaining amount – a student contribution. You must be a domestic student to be eligible, i.e. an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident of Australia or an Australian permanent humanitarian visa holder.
While allocation of CSPs to applicants is competitive as they are limited in number, you don't need to make a separate application - you will automatically be considered based on merit.
