Master of Management

Our Master of Management program is similar in style to an MBA, but for a younger market. In just one year, you will develop the skills that businesses demand, regardless of your previous experience or undergraduate area of study.

Study Australia's No. 1 Master of Management

Our Master of Management is specifically designed for recent graduates from any area of study. This degree is designed for those seeking a dynamic business career, who want to gain experience in the essential areas of business, from strategy to digital innovation.

No prior work experience is needed and graduates from any area of study are encouraged to apply. You will be part of a hand-picked group of around 50 students who work together in an inspiring environment.

The degree is a 60 credit point (12 months full-time or 2 years part-time) pre-experience program that will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary for a career in management in your chosen field.

Graduating with our Master of Management will arm you with all you need to create the future you want, faster. 

You will develop the skills that businesses demand in their future leaders by working directly with companies and in highly interactive learning environments.

Some of our graduates have gone on to work at Deloitte, EY, Google, Vodaphone, NAB, Woolworths, Oracle, IBM and AppNexus.

University of Sydney Business School Master of Management Scholarship

To be considered for admission, an applicant is required to have:

  • an Australian bachelor's degree or higher with a credit average (65 percent) or equivalent qualification or
  • an Australian bachelor's degree or higher with less than a credit average (minimum 50 percent required), and satisfactory performance in the GMAT (for guidance, the class average score is 630) or equivalent Business School approved admissions test.

For qualifications awarded outside Australia, equivalencies and admission criteria are determined based on the country, institution and qualification.

Step 2: Apply online

In order to complete your application online you will need to upload the following documentation:

  • Your most recent academic transcript
  • Your recent Resume / CV
  • A statement of motivation (maximum two pages) outlining what you hope to achieve professionally and personally by completing the Master of Management program

Note: You can still apply to the program if the results of your previous study aren’t available by the closing date.

Step 3: Motivational Video

If you meet the entry requirements you will be contacted to submit a short motivational video to assess your suitability for the program.

Step 4: Outcome

The result of your application will be communicated via the online application portal.

Master of Management (CEMS)

The Master of Management (CEMS) will open doors for you internationally. We are the only university in Australia to offer this prestigious program, which enables you to complete the CEMS Master's in International Management program as part of your degree.

You will spend at least one semester at a CEMS network University where you will gain valuable cross cultural experience whilst undertaking study and business experience. In turn, CEMS graduates are eagerly sought by leading multination corporations.

If you are from a business background and fluent in a second language, the Master of Management (CEMS) will open doors for you internationally. 

If you've just finished your first degree, the Master of Management (CEMS) could be what you need to set you apart from the crowd. A renowned alliance of business and higher education leaders, CEMS – the Global Alliance in Management Education, offers the top-ranking Master’s in International Management program.

The University of Sydney is the only university in Australia to offer this program, and we are the only business school in Australia and the first non-European institution to be admitted as a member of CEMS. Upon completion of this program students will graduate with two degrees:

  • Master of Management (CEMS) from the University of Sydney
  • CEMS Master’s in International Management from CEMS

The Master of Management (CEMS) is a 72 credit point degree (three semesters of full time study) pre-experience program.

Our multi-national corporate partners include Electrolux, Thomson Reuters, SAP, Symantec and L'Oreal. Our other national corporate partners are Bluestar, DC Strategy and Futurestep.

We have also partnered with not for profit organisations such as Future Direction Network, The Smith Family and Fitted for Work.

  • an Australian bachelor's degree or higher in a related discipline with less than a credit average (minimum 50 percent required) or equivalent qualification, and satisfactory performance in the GMAT (for guidance, the class average score is 630) or equivalent Business School approved admissions test. 

Applicants must also fulfil the following four criteria:

  1. Complete a selection interview
  2. Provide a statement of motivation
  3. Provide a recent resume / CV
  4. Demonstrate a high level of proficiency in a minimum of two languages, one of which can be English

Students enrolled in the Master of Management (CEMS) degree and CEMS students on an exchange are encouraged to join the CEMS Club Sydney.

The club aims to enhance the career prospects of all members and support sustainable careers by developing lifelong global networks between current students, alumni and corporate partners. The club also acts as a part of the international CEMS club network, liaising with other CEMS clubs and contributing to overall CEMS initiatives.
