Biomedical and health service research into chronic disease prevention often stays in the laboratory longer than it should. Our work addresses the urgent need for this new evidence to be put into practice.

The Charles Perkins Centre Implementation Hub drives the translation of world-leading lifestyle research into meaningful real-world health outcomes. We bridge the gap between innovative research and their implementation in communities, health services, and policy settings, ensuring that breakthrough findings in nutrition, sleep, and physical activity reach those who need them most.

Our vision is to create a collaborative ecosystem where researchers, communities, industry partners, and government agencies work together to address chronic disease burden through evidence-based implementation strategies. We champion community-driven research priorities and build sustainable partnerships that transform how lifestyle interventions are delivered and scaled across diverse populations.

Partnerships

We are working with current partners to understand and align our priorities as a collaborative research centre with industry, government and community priorities.

Are you an early- mid-career researcher (EMCR) looking to develop your experience with partners?

To find out how we can help your organisation, please contact our Program and Partnership Manager, Ms Henna Solanki for an initial conversation.

Grants opportunities

  • Partnering with Sydney Health Partners Implementation Science Academy to provide mentored seed funding opportunities for early and mid-career researchers, supporting the development of implementation-focused research projects with real-world impact potential. The 2026 application round has now closed.
  • The 2026 CPC Implementation Hub Partnership Seed Funding Grant Scheme is now accepting applications from EMCRs to establish and strengthen enduring partnerships between academia, health services, industry, community organisations, and/or government agencies to advance translational research.

Other opportunities

  • Strategic partnerships with Sydney Health Partners Clinical Academic Groups
  • Co-funding opportunities for translational research
  • Highlighting our funding recipients and their breakthrough projects

Training and education

We're developing an education program to help steward EMCRs to approach partnerships with industry, government and community groups to help translate their research into the relevant spaces.

Current projects and success stories

We were pleased to support Professor Philayrath Phongsavan to be awarded the 2025 Prevention Research Support Program grant.

The Charles Perkins Centre partnered with Qantas to improve the long-haul flying experience by researching health and wellness factors, such as jetlag, sleep, nutrition, and movement, leading to innovations like the Project Sunrise circadian-smart cabin lighting and pre- and post-flight wellness strategies. This collaboration brings together researchers from various fields within the CPC and has allowed for a longitudinal and mutually beneficial relationship with industry.
