If you’re a student in Year 7 – 10 attending a Program partner school, you can participate in the outreach program and engage in interactive workshops and events led by the University of Sydney Engineering and Science Outreach teams. The program is available for whole year groups and all genders with a focus on real-world applications of STEM.
Ignite your curiosity and delve into problem solving, innovative thinking and discovery as you tackle fun and engaging activities that demonstrate the real-world impact of science, technology, engineering and maths. With a combination of in-school workshops, and on-campus events, activities are curriculum-aligned and designed to showcase the diversity in STEM.

Biomedical engineers can make a huge difference in the quality of people’s life. In this 2-hour hands-on workshop at your school, you will experience what it’s like to create a shoulder joint with a range of motions and then build the electric circuits to power it!
How does a drone achieve its balance and hover without falling from the sky? Learn about the flight mechanics of drones and see how they maneuver through an obstacle course, before flying one yourself!
In this series of 2 x 1-hour in-school workshops, you’re a science investigator observing, testing, identifying and interpreting data with a small group of your classmates.
Your scientific analysis of a specific theme: testing soil to investigate the impacts of bushfires or urbanisation; cultivating your own mushroom crops; or identifying insects and other invertebrates in your local area, will strengthen your understanding of environmental science, biology and agriculture and give you a sense of what a scientist does in the real world.
Maths can be cool and fun, and did you know it underpins so much of the technology that we take for granted in our everyday lives?! Algebra is often called the language of maths. Stepping away from the textbooks in this 2-hour interactive in-school workshop, you’ll wire your own electrical circuit system and unpack the algebra behind it.

In this fun and engaging 2-hour in-school workshop, you’ll be building your own electronic breadboard and experimenting with logic gates to develop your understanding of probability and how it relates to tech!

In this fast-paced, one-day event taking place at your school with your entire year group, you’ll be set a real-world global challenge and be guided through all the stages of solving it!
