Frequently asked questions

The Khuda Women in STEM Admission Scheme supports young women at the Khuda Program partner schools who have undertaken an extensive STEM Outreach Program, showing dedication and motivation to enter STEM courses at the University of Sydney.

The Scheme is part of the broader Khuda Women in STEM Program which aims to address the under representation of women studying and working in historically male-dominated STEM degrees and employment.

No application is necessary. You will be automatically considered based on the information in your UAC application. Adjustment factors will automatically be awarded to eligible students for eligible courses.

No, all students who identify as a woman, who attend a Khuda Program partner school and meet the eligibility requirements can access the Khuda Women in STEM Admission Scheme.

These STEM courses already have gender parity and are not included in the Khuda Women in STEM Admission Scheme or Program.

Some combined courses where the other course is not a STEM course, such as B Science and B Laws, do not offer adjustment factors because the non-STEM course has a higher ATAR requirement. Women from Khuda Program partner schools enrolling in these courses can still access the additional student supports.

This applies to the following courses:

  • B Advanced Computing and B Commerce
  • B Engineering Honours and B Commerce
  • B Engineering Honours (Civil Engineering) and B Design in Architecture
  • B Engineering Honours and B Laws
  • B Science and B Laws

No, only students who participated in the Khuda Women in STEM Academy in year 11 and 12 are eligible for the Khuda Scholarship.

The Khuda Women in STEM Admission Scheme will give you access to the student support and other programs offered through the Khuda Scholars Program.

We recommend applying for scholarships as there are many Women in STEM scholarships available.

No additional adjustment factors or other admission schemes can be used in combination with the Khuda Women in STEM Admission Scheme.

We recommend you place your dream course as your highest preference even if you do not meet the selection rank. Each year the selection rank for courses can be higher or lower depending on the demand in the year you are applying.

You can also preference similar courses with a lower selection rank. If you’re made an offer to one of these courses, you can complete one year of study and then transfer into your desired course. Unfortunately, adjustment factors are not available for students transferring.

To receive the adjustment factors and support, you must enrol in an eligible STEM course in the year immediately after graduating high school. You will only retain your support benefits if you remain enrolled in an eligible STEM course.

Yes, you can be considered for the Scheme in all UAC offer rounds from December Round 2. Remember that some courses fill up in the main (December Round 2) offer round. You will only be considered in the UAC rounds leading into Semester 1 in the year immediately after you’ve graduated from high school.

Yes, you can defer your offer if your chosen course can be deferred. You also cannot change your course once it’s been deferred and have the admission scheme applied to the new course. If you wish to change your course it will be considered a new application in UAC and the Khuda admission scheme will not be applied.
