3. Industry experience as you study

Studying computer science at the University of Sydney will open the door to industry opportunities so you can gain experience and build your network before you graduate. There are 3 ways to gain experience: capstones, SPARK program and internships.

  • Capstones: all students studying a Bachelor of Advanced Computing are required to undertake a capstone project as part of their studies. This involves a project-based activity with one of our industry partners.
  • SPARK: our 5-week summer start-up program for computer science students passionate about entrepreneurship and technology innovation. Students participate in workshops and are mentored to develop a business plan and pitch for their idea. At the conclusion of the programs, teams pitch to a panel of industry advisors for the opportunity to receive a $1,000 prize.
  • Internships: we have a network of 1,200+ industry partners including Qantas, AB Mauri and Telstra who offer project and placement opportunities for our students.

4. A second major from 100+ cross-disciplines

You can combine your computing skills with a second major from over 100 study areas including music, commerce, science and the arts. You can pursue other passions and interests whilst developing well-rounded multidisciplinary skills highly sought after by employers.

5. Accredited by the Australian Computer Society

Our Bachelor of Advanced Computing is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). This degree is recognised by Australian employers and for ACS certification that can be used for skills assessments (if you want to work overseas).
