Sydney Law School alumni appointed Senior Counsel in 2021

Senior Counsel appointments for 2021
Congratulations to our Sydney Law School alumni who have been appointed Senior Counsel this year.

The announcement was recently made by the President of the New South Wales Bar Association, Michael McHugh SC.

Of the 20 barristers who have been appointed Senior Counsel, an impressive 11 were identified as Sydney Law School alumni:

  • Andrew Fox, 5 Wentworth Chambers - (BA '93, LLB '96, LLM '02)
  • Sharyn Hall, Samuel Griffith Chambers - (BA '97, LLB '00)
  • Bede Kelleher, 13th Floor St James Hall - (BA '92, LLB '94)
  • Stuart Lawrance, Tenth Floor Selborne/Wentworth Chambers - (BA '97, LLB '00)
  • Sera Mirzabegian, Eleven Wentworth - (BEc Soc.Sc '99, LLB '01, MIntLaw '00)

Senior counsel are barristers who have demonstrated outstanding skill as advocates and advisers in the administration of justice. Known informally as 'silks', they work on particularly complex or difficult cases. Prior to 1993 in New South Wales such barristers were known as a QC or Queen's Counsel.
