Our University of Sydney SPEECH Clinic speech pathologists provide services to people experiencing difficulties with communication and/or swallowing.

Our services

Our clinical services include:

  • Assessment:  comprehensive assessments of both adult's and children's communication skills. Assessment is individualised to the presenting concerns and needs. We provide specific recommendations about treatment and options for services according to assessment findings in collaboration with the client and/or their family.
  • Therapy:  the type and frequency of therapy will depend on the professional practice best suited to the particular problem. Our intervention is based on evidence as well as culturally-responsive practices. We work with the client and their family directly with considerations of their communication and/or swallowing needs in the community.

Please contact the clinic for a current schedule of fees.

Communication across the lifespan

The SPEECH Clinic provides student placement experiences and speech pathology services for the community to improve communication and swallowing across the lifespan. The student placement experiences are supervised by qualified health professionals and include a diverse range of clinical and community activities for children, young people, and adults.

We aim to provide a contemporary best practice education, research, and service experience for students on placement in the SPEECH Clinic.

Clients will receive the highest quality health care experience, which is safe, person-centred, and aligns with the Professional Standards for Speech Pathologists in Australia. This includes optimising:

  • Communication for interacting and exchanging information, for a range of purposes and across different contexts.
  • Swallowing and mealtime management to support health, well-being, and participation.
