The collaboration brings together BIOTRONIK’s expertise in implanted cardiac devices and remote monitoring with the University’s research capabilities and the WARC: Westmead Applied Research Centre University of Sydney's experience in patient-facing digital health tools.
The initiative will focus on co-designing scalable solutions that address real-world clinical needs, particularly for patients in remote or underserved regions with limited access to care. Areas of development include remote patient monitoring, AI, and clinical decision support.
This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to advancing patient-centered, value-based healthcare through innovation and evidence-based approaches.
In a major step toward improving public health outcomes in New South Wales, Professor Clara Chow has been appointed to two high-impact advisory groups focused on tackling chronic disease: the NSW Ministry of Health’s Clinical Advisory Group (CAG) on Diabetes Prevention and the Heart Foundation’s Obesity and Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Taskforce.
Professor Chow’s appointment to the CAG reflects her extensive expertise in cardiovascular and public health research, and her commitment to evidence-based policy development.
“These appointments underscore Professor Chow’s leadership in chronic disease prevention and her pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare in NSW and beyond,” said a spokesperson from the Heart Foundation.
Both initiatives are expected to deliver actionable insights and practical recommendations that will help reduce the burden of chronic diseases and improve cardiovascular outcomes for communities across Australia.
The Sprint to Create initiative is a joint effort between the Faculty of Medicine and Health and Faculty of Engineering, guided by the Steering Committee including Professors Clara Chow, Henry Pleass, Ken-Tye Yong and Kourosh Kalantar Zadeh.
The initiative brought together engineers and health professionals to innovate and solve real-world medical problems that could bridge healthcare gaps through the synergy of interdisciplinary collaboration.
