Opening in 2027, Sydney Conservatorium of Music Parramatta brings world‑class contemporary music education to the heart of Western Sydney (Parramatta). Designed and built for 21st‑century music technologies - and the first of its kind in an Australian tertiary setting - it’s for students ready to experiment, collaborate, and push their musical training to new limits.

Whether you’re into songwriting, digital production, screen composition, electronic music, music for games, live performance, or creating immersive sound and installations, this is where you learn how music gets made today and build the skills for an exciting career.

SCM Parramatta is the Con’s first major expansion in 110 years - built for contemporary music, digital production and creative careers. You’ll be part of the Con community from day one, with the same great teaching, support and performance opportunities.

Study and collaboration opportunities in Western Sydney

From Semester 1 2027, you’ll study across both the Sydney CBD and Parramatta locations - moving easily between the two, with the option of taking electives at the University’s Camperdown campus. You’ll have:

You’ll learn from internationally recognised leaders in contemporary music, digital composition, sound design, and music technology whose work actively shapes contemporary music. Combining cutting-edge expertise with a strong commitment to mentoring, they empower students to become confident, forward-thinking composers and creators.

You’ll learn in:

  • two state-of-the-art digital music studios engineered for listening, production and sophisticated audio recording, allowing students to explore and perfect various music and sound techniques, plus cutting‑edge, purpose‑built rehearsal spaces with industry‑leading acoustics, video and motion equipment for audio recording, video recording, motion capture and teaching.
  • a 60 seat live-performance venue equipped with cutting edge video projection and an audio system that replicates concert hall settings from around the world, alongside adjustable staging and seating to host a wide variety of events – from rock concerts to audio installations to DJ-style dance events.
  • a dedicated computer lab and video projection space where students learn software for contemporary music editing, visual editing, and soundscape composition, plus collaborative areas for teaching and connecting with other students, academics and industry partners.

SCM Parramatta is located at 60 Station Street, just 200 metres from Parramatta Station and close to ferry services and major bus routes.

It’s easy to get to from across Western Sydney – and well connected to the rest of Sydney, including future Metro West links.

SCM Parramatta sits in the middle of a fast-growing creative hub, shaped by major cultural developments like Parramatta Powerhouse and the Riverside Theatres redevelopment. Supported by a Sound NSW strategic grant, the new location strengthens Western Sydney’s contemporary music scene and career pathways.

You’ll have opportunities to connect with:

  • local artists and creative organisations
  • industry partners and professionals
  • First Nations artists and cultural initiatives
  • community programs and live events

The new location will also host public concerts, masterclasses and community workshops - giving you more chances to perform, collaborate and build real experience in Western Sydney’s creative scene.
