MySydney Entry and Scholarship Scheme

This scheme offers undergraduate students entry on a reduced ATAR, a $8500 yearly scholarship for the duration of your degree, plus a range of additional support.

Benefits

Eligibility

To be eligible for this scheme you must:

  • be a domestic undergraduate student
  • live at an address listed in the bottom 25 percent of the Socio-Economic Index for Areas (SEIFA) Index of Education and Occupation (IEO), based on the residential address you enter in your UAC application*
  • be applying as a new University of Sydney student.

High school students and non-school leavers are both eligible for the scheme.

*If you receive a notification from UAC that the residential address you entered in your application is identified as being in the lowest 25 percent of socio-economic disadvantage, this does not mean you meet the eligibility for MySydney. You must receive confirmation of your eligibility directly from the University of Sydney.

How to apply

Frequently asked questions

Entry scheme FAQs

No, you do not need to apply or provide any documentation. You will be assessed on the information provided in your UAC application.

There is no deadline to be considered for MySydney. You must create a UAC application in time for an offer round in which the University of Sydney participates. Remember that some courses fill up in the main (December Round 2) offer round and offers may not be made for all courses in all rounds.

Most of the reduced ATARs are guaranteed for admission through the scheme. However, some reduced ATARs are indicative as noted by an asterisk (*) in the tables above.

Please note that some courses also include additional admission criteria that you must meet. See the eligible courses and reduced ATARs section above for details.

No additional adjustment factors or other admission schemes can be used in combination with the MySydney entry scheme.

If you were notified that an educational access application was automatically generated for you (based on the address you used in your undergraduate UAC application). This does not mean you are eligible for the MySydney entry scheme. You must receive confirmation of your eligibility directly from the University of Sydney.

Yes, you can receive one offer in each UAC offer round.

Yes, you can be considered for MySydney in all UAC offer rounds you are eligible to participate in. Remember that some courses fill up in the main (December Round 2) offer round, and that offers are not made for all courses in all rounds.

Unconditional offers are released for recent school leavers and non-recent school leavers at different times.

Recent school leavers:

You will receive an unconditional offer in the main (December Round 2) offer round if you are eligible and have listed your MySydney course as your highest eligible preference.

Non-recent school leavers:

Unconditional offers are made starting from November for most of our courses. In most cases, if you have submitted a UAC application, and meet the eligibility requirements, you can be made an unconditional offer in the following UAC round. Some courses that have indicative ATARs or additional admissions criteria will not be offered until the main (December Round 2) offer round.

Current University of Sydney students are not eligible for MySydney. You will be considered for MySydney if you have started an undergraduate degree at another university if you make a UAC application to commence a new undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney.

In most cases you can apply to defer your MySydney offer, however, not all courses allow deferral.

If your course cannot be deferred your MySydney scholarship cannot be deferred. In this case, you will need to reapply via UAC for the semester that you want to commence, and you will be considered for MySydney based on your new application.

Contact admission.pathways@sydney.edu.au if you have any questions.

Scholarship FAQs

Yes, once you have been made an offer to your course, your MySydney scholarship will become available in Sydney Student within five business days of your offer.

Whether you can accept your MySydney scholarship with other scholarships will depend on each scholarship’s terms and conditions. You should refer to the terms and conditions of the scholarships you have been offered.

You can accept your MySydney scholarship through the Sydney Student portal when you accept your offer. Look out for an 'In-Tray' message subject 'University of Sydney Scholarship Offer' and follow the prompts.

The annual payment will be paid in three instalments during the first year.

  • An initial payment will be made at the start of Welcome Week (the week before Semester 1 starts) to the value of $1000.
  • Your second payment will be made within 30 days after the Semester 1 census date to the value of $3250.
  • The third payment will be made within 30 days after the Semester 2 census date to the value of $4250.

Find the key dates for your year of study.

If you can defer your course, you will also be able to defer the MySydney scholarship. You will need to defer your course first, and then the scholarship will automatically defer. Please note that not all courses can be deferred.

You can study part-time and hold the MySydney scholarship. Please note some courses cannot be studied part-time. Please speak to an academic adviser if you are planning to study part-time so they can advise the best enrolment plan.

The scholarship does not cover any postgraduate studies, even if taken as part of a double degree e.g. Bachelor of Science and Master of Nursing.

The scholarship does not cover appended honours degrees (a one-year add-on at the end of your degree). The scholarship only covers honours when it is a compulsory part of an undergraduate degree e.g. Bachelor of Engineering (Honours).
