2024 Speakers
Professor John Grigg led an 'Introduction to inherited retinal disease (IRD).'
Professor Grigg is Head of the Discipline of Ophthalmology at The University of Sydney's Save Sight Institute. He also consults at Sydney Eye Hospital and The Children's Hospital Westmead.
Professor Robyn Jamieson led an 'Introduction to Genetics'.
Professor Jamieson is Head of the Speicialty of Genomic Medicine and based at the Children's Hospital at Westmead Clinical School. Her research program is focussed on genomic and functional studies aimed at understanding disease causation and progressing to novel therapies in genetic diseases, especially of the eye.
Professor Chris Lloyd delivered the keynote address.
Professor Lloyd is a Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London and holds an honorary Chair from the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre, University of Manchester. Prof Lloyd became Manchester's first sub-specialist Consultant Paediatric Ophthalmologist in 1995 after training at St Bartholomews' Hospital London, Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and as Ulverscroft clinical fellow at Great Ormond Street. He and his colleagues developed the MREH paediatric eye service into a large tertiary referral and teaching centre which now trains 3 clinical fellows in paediatric ophthalmology per year. He returned to London to take up his current post at Great Ormond Street Hospital London in 2016.
