The LGBTQIA+ Executive Fellowship Scholarship, powered by BHP, is a full scholarship to support participation in the LGBTQIA+ Executive Fellowship program for people from under-represented minority groups who are self-employed or working in not-for-profit (NFP) organisations.

This Scholarship was established by the University of Sydney Business School and The Pinnacle Foundation to provide a leadership development opportunity to those who identify as LGBTQIA+ and are either currently employed by a not-for-profit organisation and/or are part of a minority group (see Appendix A).
1. Background
a. The goal of this scholarship is to increase the representation of LGBTQIA+ people in senior leadership roles within Australia who are either currently employed by a not-for-profit organisation and/or are part of a minority group.
2. Eligibility
Applicants must:
a. be an Australian citizen or permanent resident,
b. identify as LGBTQIA+, and/or as someone from another minority group (see Appendix A),
c. be currently employed by a not-for-profit organisation or self-employed,
d. have a minimum of 10 years relevant professional leadership experience, and
e. be able to commit to the full attendance and completion of the program
3. Selection Criteria
a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of a personal statement between 200 and 400 words in length which demonstrates:
i. leadership capability, experience and potential,
ii. what the applicant hopes to achieve professionally and personally by completing the LGBTQIA+ Executive Fellowship.
b. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an online interview.
c. The Scholarship will be awarded by a Selection Committee consisting of the Program Director of the LGBTQIA+ Executive Fellowship, or their nominated delegate (academic), the CEO of The Pinnacle Foundation, or their nominated delegate, a professional staff member from the Executive Education team, and an alumnus of the LGBTQIA+ Executive Fellowship.
4. Value
a. The Scholarship will cover 100% of the recipient’s course fees for the program.
b. The Scholarship must be taken up in the cohort in which it is offered.
c. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted without the prior permission of the Program Director, and it is not transferable to another program, faculty or university.
d. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.
e. No other amount is payable. The recipient is responsible for all other associated fees such as travel or accommodation costs.
5. Ongoing eligibility
a. To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must successfully complete all modules and associated assessments that are part of the LGBTQIA+ Executive Fellowship program.
6. Termination
a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:
i. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,
ii. does not maintain satisfactory attendance,
iii. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,
iv. accepts an alternative scholarship, administered by the University of Sydney, for the same purpose as this Scholarship,
v. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.
b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.
c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
7. Other
a. On conclusion of the program, the Scholarship recipient will be required to provide a short written statement and video outlining the impact the program has had on their leadership development. This will be provided to The Pinnacle Foundation and shared to BHP for internal reporting and awareness purposes only.
A minority group refers to a group of people who experience relative disadvantage as compared to members of a dominant social group. Minority group membership is typically based on differences in characteristics or practices, such as ethnicity (ethnic minority), race (racial minority), religion (religious minority), sexual orientation (sexual minority), disability, or gender.
