Background

This scholarship promotes academic excellence in pre-experience management education. Recent graduates from non-business backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

1. Background

a. The Master of Management is a degree designed specifically for high performing students who have recently finished an undergraduate degree, in any discipline. The Masters combines leading edge business and management content with high levels of corporate engagement.

b. The University of Sydney Business School Master of Management Scholarship promotes academic excellence and academic diversity in pre-experience Management education and is open to students from any discipline.

2. Eligibility

a. Applicants must meet entry requirements for the Master of Management and will undertake continuous full-time study with the University of Sydney Business School from the semester for which they sought entry.

b. Applicants must be Australian Citizens, Australian Permanent Residents, or New Zealand Citizens.

3. Selection Criteria

a. Applicants must have applied to the Master of Management.

b. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

I. academic merit,

II. demonstrated motivation to achieve, international outlook, and personal integrity, and

III. a one-page statement addressing the following:

i. What qualities / attributes can you bring to the Master of Management degree.

ii. What do you hope to achieve professionally and personally by completing the Master of Management degree.

c. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Dean of the University of Sydney Business School, or their nominated delegates / committee, following the recommendation of the admissions committee.

4. Value

a. The Scholarship is tenable for the normal duration of the Master of Management and covers the full cost of tuition fees in coursework study.

b. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted.

c. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

d. No other amount is payable.

5. Ongoing eligibility

a. To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 70 each semester.

b. Recipients undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship are required to have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment.

6. Termination

a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,

II. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,

III. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,

IV. accepts an alternative scholarship, administered by the University of Sydney, for the same purpose as this Scholarship,

V. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave, or

VI. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.

b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.

c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
