- $ 3,000 in the first semester of the award;
- $ 12,000 paid in equal instalments after the census date of the following two semesters.

Who's eligible

You must:

  • be a Domestic Student 
  • identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person as defined in the University of Sydney’s Confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identity Policy 2015
  • be currently enrolled in your penultimate year of study in an undergraduate coursework degree within the University of Sydney
  • declare intention to attend a paid internship with Mirvac.

Established in 2022, this Scholarship has been sponsored by Mirvac, an Australian property group, to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through the final two years of their degree with direct financial support.

1. Background

a. Established in 2022, this Scholarship has been sponsored by Mirvac, an Australian property group, to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through the final two years of their degree with direct financial support.

2. Eligibility

a. Applicants must be a domestic student currently enrolled in their penultimate year of study in an undergraduate coursework degree within the University of Sydney.

b. Applicants must identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island person as defined in the University of Sydney’s Confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identity Policy 2015.

c. Must declare intention to attend a paid internship with Mirvac.

3. Selection Criteria

a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

I. a personal statement demonstrating motivation,

II. demonstrated equity grounds described in 2b, and

III. an interview.

b. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Dean of the University of Sydney Business School, or their nominee, on the recommendation of the interview panel, which will consist of a representative of the Business School, a representative from a relevant Faculty, and a representative from Mirvac.

4. Value

a. The total value of the Scholarship is $15,000 and will be paid on the following basis:

- $ 3,000 in the first semester of the award;

- $ 12,000 paid in equal instalments after the census date of the following two semesters.

b. The total duration of the scholarship is 1.5 years.

c. Deferral or Suspension of the Scholarship is generally not permitted unless written approval of the Dean or their delegated is provided in advance.

d. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

e. No other amount is payable.

5. Ongoing eligibility

a. To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must maintain a minimum SAM of 50 each semester.

b. The recipient undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship is required to have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment.

c. The recipient accepts and completes the internship program during the scholarship tenure.

6. Termination

a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,

II. commences part-time study without prior approval,

III. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance,

IV. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,

V. accepts an alternative scholarship, administered by the University of Sydney, valued at $8,000 per annum or more for the same purpose as this Scholarship, or

VI. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave,

VII. fails to complete the internship with Mirvac, or

VIII. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.

b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.

c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.
