Who's eligible

You must:

  • be a domestic student
  • be commencing an undergraduate coursework degree administered by the University of Sydney Business School with an ATAR of at least 97 or
  • be continuing an undergraduate coursework degree administered by the University of Sydney Business School with an annual average mark of at least 75
  • be a member of the Elite Athlete Program at Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness.

This Scholarship was established in 2012 to recognise and support student athletes achieving excellent results both in the classroom and within their sport.

1. Background

a. This Scholarship was established in 2012 to recognise and support student athletes achieving excellent results both in the classroom and within their sport.

2. Eligibility

a. Applicants must be Domestic students.

b. Applicants must be commencing or are currently enrolled in an undergraduate coursework degree administered by the University of Sydney Business School.
i. Applicants commencing their degree must attain an ATAR of at least 97,
ii. Applicants who are currently enrolled must achieve an annual average mark of at least 75.

c. Applicants must be a member of the Elite Athlete Program at Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness.

3. Selection Criteria

a. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

I. academic merit, and
II. sporting achievements at a state and national level.

b. The Scholarship will be awarded by the Dean of the University of Sydney Business School or their nominated delegates.

4. Value

a. The Scholarship is valued at $5000 per annum and is tenable for one year only.

b. The Scholarship annual value will be paid in two equal instalments after the census date of each semester.

c. Deferral of the Scholarship is not permitted, and it is not transferrable without prior approval.

d. The Scholarship will be offered subject to the availability of funds.

e. No other amount is payable.

5. Ongoing eligibility

a. To continue receipt of the Scholarship, the recipient must maintain a minimum Semester Average Mark (SAM) of 65 each semester and enrol in a minimum of two units of study with the University of Sydney Business School each semester.

b. Recipients undertaking an exchange during the tenure of this Scholarship are required to have achieved a Satisfied Requirements grade (SR) to receive their next payment.

6. Termination

a. The Scholarship will be terminated if the recipient:

I. withdraws from an eligible course or fails to enrol,
II. withdraws from or is deselected from the SUSF’s Elite Athlete Program,
III. does not maintain satisfactory academic performance or fails to meet the ongoing eligibility requirement set out in 5.a.,
IV. is determined by the University to be guilty of serious misconduct, including, but not limited to, having provided false or misleading information as part of their Scholarship application,
V. does not resume study at the end of a period of approved leave, or
VI. any other provision as indicated in these terms that would lead to termination.

b. Once the Scholarship has been terminated, it will not be reinstated unless due to University error.

c. Where a student is found guilty of serious misconduct or the Scholarship is terminated under any instance in the Termination Clause of these terms and conditions, the University reserves the right to request that any Scholarship funds paid to the Scholarship recipient be reimbursed.

7. Other Requirements

a. Scholarship recipients may be invited to promote the program in which they are enrolled, represent the University of Sydney at student welcome, marketing events and corporate networking events and fulfil the on-campus functions of a Business School Student Ambassador.
