The WELL Node brings together teachers, school leaders, researchers, policymakers, and community members to co-create, implement, and evaluate policies and practices that improve the wellbeing of teachers and leaders in Australian primary and secondary schools.
The WELL Node is committed to improving the wellbeing of teachers and school leaders—because when educators thrive, so do students, schools, and communities.
Teacher and school leader wellbeing is central to effective teaching, school leadership, and staff retention. Supporting wellbeing means creating the conditions for teachers and leaders to sustain their passion, perform at their best, and remain in the profession long-term.
By working collaboratively with educators, researchers, policymakers, and community members, we co-create and evaluate practical wellbeing strategies that are evidence-informed and tailored to school needs.
The WELL Node aims to help address Australia’s teacher shortage by boosting retention, improving working conditions, and elevating the status of the teaching profession, all while strengthening the quality of our education system.
We bring together diverse voices—teachers, school leaders, researchers, and community members—to design and evaluate wellbeing initiatives that work in real schools.
WELL focuses on practical, research-informed solutions that schools can implement and scale, with evaluation built in from the start.
With funding from the Sydney Policy Lab, our work is designed to inform meaningful policy change at local, state, and national levels.
WELL is convened by three Co-Convenors:
