Requesting an alternative conferral date
Subject to availability, if you're eligible to graduate you may be able to request an earlier or later conferral date. If your request is approved, your conferral date will likely take place on a different date to your ceremony.
Requesting an earlier conferral date will not change the date of your graduation ceremony, if you choose to attend one.
If you request a later conferral date, we will need to schedule you for a later ceremony.
If you don't plan to attend your ceremony
- If you're not attending a ceremony and need an earlier conferral date, please submit a request to graduate without attending a ceremony in Sydney Student, as this will determine your conferral date.
- If you're not attending a ceremony and need a later conferral date it's important that you don't submit a request to graduate without attending a ceremony in Sydney Student, as this will set an earlier conferral date.
You can apply for one of the early conferral dates listed below if you:
- are eligible to graduate
- haven't already been conferred, as we cannot change your conferral date once your degree is conferred
- receive your completion letter, submit 'Getting ready to graduate' in Sydney student, and submit your request for an earlier conferral date, all by the applicable deadline below
- have a valid reason, such as:
- to apply for further studies or graduate opportunities
- for work-related reasons
- for visa-related reasons.
Application form
Submit the Graduation support form and include:
- which conferral date you're requesting
- a brief explanation of your valid reason for applying (there's no need to attach supporting documents).

Application form
You can now apply for a 22 June 2026 conferral date by submitting an expression of interest.
Applications for a 2 November 2026 conferral date will open in the second half of the year.
Semester 1 2026 later conferral date
This conferral date is for students who completed their studies in Semester 2 2025.

If you receive your completion letter after 7 October 2026, there will be no alternative conferral dates remaining in 2026. We expect to publish 2027 dates in December-January.
Receiving your documents
You'll receive a digital version of your graduation documents 2-5 business days after your degree is conferred. These will be sent to your personal email address, as recorded in Sydney Student, with information on how to create an account with My eQuals. This will also be the address we use to set up your My eQuals account.
You'll receive your hard-copy documents at your ceremony.
