Do you have an idea for an event to welcome students back in 2022?

30 November 2021
Apply for the Student Life Grants Program for Welcome Week
The Welcome Week Grant Program provides funding and support for students to host events that will welcome students back to campus and the University community.

You can apply as an individual student or a group of students to access up to $5,000 of funding and development support for event ideas in the areas of social activities and mentoring, professional development, community contribution and academic research.  Events must be held between 14 February and 13 March, 2022.

Some ideas you could consider include:

  • a networking event
  • skills-building workshop
  • case study competition
  • writing competition
  • art exhibition
  • trivia event
  • student debate
  • podcast
  • video
  • student-led conference
  • book club
  • 1-minute thesis competition
  • mental health initiative
  • community volunteering

Any idea for a co-curricular activity that will positively impact students will be considered.

Welcome Week Grants applications will be accepted in two rounds:

  • Round one: closes 9am, Monday 13 December, 2021.
  • Round two: closes 9am, Monday 9 January, 2022.

We encourage students to apply for round one to ensure they have sufficient time to plan their events.

All students are encouraged to apply, regardless of your previous experience - your application will be assessed based on the strength of your ideas and the quality of your event proposal, and you'll be supported throughout the planning by our team.

Events can be either held in person or online. If you have questions about your application, please reach out to the Student Life team at studentlife.welcomegrants@sydney.edu.au.
