Our team brings extensive experience in equine anaesthesia and provides tailored advice on peri- and post-operative management, ensuring each patient is supported every step of the way. We are committed to delivering the safest possible anaesthetic while maximising comfort, with careful assessment before, during, and after every procedure, and a strong focus on effective pain management.

As part of our commitment to advancing the profession, we also work closely with final-year veterinary students, helping to train the next generation of equine veterinarians in safe and effective anaesthesia practices.

Hospital‑based anaesthesia and specialist support

Where specialist or complex surgery is required, equine patients have access to a dedicated team of anaesthesiologists with extensive experience in large animal anaesthesia.

These specialists work alongside surgical teams and use state‑of‑the‑art anaesthetic and monitoring equipment to provide expert advice on:

  • pre‑operative planning
  • intra‑operative anaesthesia and monitoring
  • post‑operative pain management and recovery

Hospital‑based care allows for advanced monitoring and management of higher‑risk cases.

Teaching and training in equine anaesthesia

As a teaching hospital, the Equine Centre includes final‑year veterinary students in anaesthesia services under close supervision.

This approach supports the training of future veterinarians and reflects a commitment to teaching safe, evidence‑based anaesthetic practice in horses while maintaining patient welfare and clinical standards.
