What happens when I call with a livestock emergency?

When you contact us with a livestock emergency, your call will be triaged by the on‑call veterinarian. We will ask key questions about the animal, the situation and urgency to determine the most appropriate response.

You will be advised on immediate steps to take while help is on the way, and whether an on‑farm visit is required. Availability, response options and any applicable after‑hours fees will be discussed at the time of the call.

Where do we provide on‑farm emergency services?

On‑farm emergency livestock care is provided through our Camden‑based ambulatory veterinary service. Veterinarians travel to properties where emergency assessment or treatment can be safely and effectively delivered on‑farm.

In some cases, animals may require hospital‑based care or referral, depending on the nature of the emergency and available facilities.

What ambulatory services do we provide?

  • calving, lambing and kidding assistance

  • dermatology investigations
  • vaccination and worming advice
  • calf, lamb and kid health assessment and management, including congenital and conformational conditions
  • disease investigation
  • pregnancy diagnosis using ultrasound and manual techniques

Services are delivered using fully equipped veterinary vehicles.
